Title IX
What is Title IX?
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (“Title IX”) prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in any federally funded education program or activity. Sex discrimination includes sex-based harassment, discrimination based on sex, and retaliation related to complaints of sex discrimination. Sex-based harassment is unwelcome conduct that includes both sexual harassment; including but not limited to sexual assault, other forms of sexual violence, and other sexual misconduct, and gender-based harassment. This applies to academic, educational, athletic, and residential programs. “No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal Financial Assistance.” The Griffith Public School Board, under board policy 2266, declares it to be the policy of this district to provide a safe, positive learning and working environment that is free from bullying, hazing, dating violence, sexual harassment and other discrimination, and retaliation. If you have experienced, or if you have knowledge of, any such actions, we encourage you to contact the Title IX Coordinator. The Title IX Coordinator will be happy to support you by answering any questions about the reporting of any incidences you believe to be a violation of Title IX.
